Red Bull F1 Visit GQS
All of the Formula 1 racing fans in the office were rushing out the doors of the office yesterday when (assistant producer) Ed spotted a Red Bull F1 car parked on Great Queen Street.

At lunch (senior technical producer) John went down with his camera and got shots of the car from every angle imaginable. Martin Brundle still dreams of this kind of unprecedented access every race weekend on the grid.

Admittedly this is the 2009 version of the car driven by Sebastian Vettel which is ‘old’ in the eyes of the mechanics due to the sheer speed of technological advances. These days you’ll see the team huddling around certain parts of the car to protect their design secrets, also protecting their advantage over all the other teams.

This car was the one driven by Vettel the season before he rose to the top of the F1 standings taking the driver’s championship for the first time in 2010. That said, he did end up second only to Jenson Button in the 2009 season following victories in China, Britain, Japan and Abu Dhabi.

The car was parked a few doors down outside the Grand Connaught Rooms where the British Racing Drivers’ Club were believed to be hosting an awards ceremony.
